SHOW RULES & REGULATIONS

GENERAL RULES

  1. Must be 21 years or younger as of January 1, 2020.
  2. A Premise ID number is required to exhibit. It is easy to obtain a premises ID number by clicking here.
  3. All exhibitors MUST be Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) certified. Certificate MUST be included with entries. Certificate MUST be included with entries. 
  4. Entry Deadline – Entries must be received no later than June 5.
  5. Entry Fee: CPPA Member – $35/entry, Non-Member – $45/entry, First-Time Exhibitor – $22.50/entry.
  6. Late Fee – $25/entry. All entries are final and non-refundable.
  7. CPPA reserves the right to refuse any entry.
  8. All hogs must be checked in by 8:00 am Saturday.
  9. Exhibitors are responsible for weighing their own hogs.
  10. Exhibitors MUST clean out pens. Exhibitors can pay a $25 per exhibitor pen clean-out fee. Exhibitors that do not clean out pens or pay the fee, will be asses the $25 pen clean-out fee.
  11. PeeWee Showmanship – If not entered in the Jackpot Show, a $10 entry fee and separate entry form is required.

JUNIOR BREEDING GILT SHOW

  1. Show will be broken into 3 purebred divisions, plus an AOB division, and Crossbreds. Crossbreds will be broken into three divisions based on weight.
  2. Purebred gilts farrowed on or after November 1, 2019 eligible.
  3. Purebred gilts must submit a copy of registration papers with entries or at check in. Registration papers must be in exhibitors name. Those without registration papers showing ownership will show as a crossbred.
  4. Crossbred Gilts – Entries will be weighed and classes broken down by weight. Crossbred Gilt Weights: 375 lbs. or less with 15 lb. weigh-back. Top three gilts in each class will be weighed during the show. No minimum weight.
  5. Premiums:
    1. Champion Gilt: $1,000 and Belt Buckle
    2. Reserve Champion Gilt: $500
    3. Division Champions & Top 5 Overall Gilts to receive awards.
    4. Class winners: 1st $50 and 2nd $40.
  6. This is NOT a terminal show.

JUNIOR BARROW SHOW

  1. Show will be broken into 3 purebred divisions, plus an AOB division, and Crossbreds. Crossbreds will be broken into three divisions based on weight.
  2. Entries will be weighed and classes broken down by weight. Barrow Weights: 290 lbs. or less with 15 lb. weigh-back. The top three barrows in each class will be weighed back during the show. No minimum weight.
  3. Premiums:
    1. Champion Barrow: $1,000 and Belt Buckle
    2. Reserve Champion Barrow: $500
    3. Division Champions & Top 5 Overall Barrows to receive awards.
    4. Class winners: 1st $50 and 2nd $40.
    5. This is NOT a terminal show.

CALIFORNIA BRED & FED (CBF) DIVISION

  1. All hogs MUST show in the gilt or barrow show.
  2. Hog must be bred by a California hog producer, raised, and fed in California.
  3. All CBF entries must be accompanied with a copy of the purchase receipt from the California breeder. For third party sales, receipts from both parties are required.
  4. Failure to provide a receipt will disqualify the animal from this division. If the show management should question the origin of the animal, further documentation may be required from the breeder (litter sheet, photos, etc.). Any exhibitor found to fraudulently enter their hog into this division will be disqualified with no refund of entry fees and be banned from any further participation in CPPA sponsored events.
  5. The top CBF hogs from each division will be selected to determine the Champion and Reserve CBF Gilt and Champion and Reserve CBF Barrow.
  6. An overall Supreme and Reserve Supreme CBF will be selected.
  7. Premiums:
    1. Champion CBF: TBA
    2. Reserve Champion CBF: TBA

SWINE SWEEPSTAKES

Contest to recognize overall participation. Participants will receive points based on Skillathon Test, placings in Gilt show, Barrow show and Showmanship. For details click here.
